Nigel Hood, Edmonton based graphic designer, principal of Hotel Graphic Design Co.

I am Nigel Hood, a graphic designer operating Hotel Graphic Design Co. in Edmonton, Alberta.

My practice focuses on building durable identity systems for organizations, communities, and cultural projects. I'm interested in how visual identities grow from history, place, and the habits of the people who use them. Working closely with clients, I find the patterns that already exist and give them form, creating visual systems that can grow without wearing out.

Alongside client commissions, I pursue self-initiated visual studies exploring place, memory, music, and subculture. These deep dives into local lore continue to shape my practice, influencing how I research, ask questions, and think about identity.

My work has been recognized through industry awards and publications, including the LogoLounge book series, Applied Arts, the ACE Awards, and the Anvil Awards. Projects have also been featured by CBC and covered by media outlets across Canada.
